My AIA mate in Athens continues to supply me with fresh prayer points...
"Yesterday, we went to a cycling event and were able to meet an
athlete who competed in the Olympics in Sydney but missed this year due
an injury. We gave him a Jesus DVD and pray that viewing it changes his
outlook on life.
Several GREAT "only God could do this" praises have occurred:
- A USA Women's Softball player was voted "Most Beautiful Girl in the
Olympic Village" by the other athletes, and when the Greek media crowded
around her to interview her, all she would talk about was how great God is!
She also mentioned her involvement with AIA.
- A (former Iron Curtain country) field athlete was excited about watching
the DVD back at his room in the Olympic Village.
- Rabe, our AIA staff from an African country was able to meet with the whole delegation from his country and present each one a Jesus DVD! He met
several governmental officers including the head of the military and one that
was a former head of rebel forces!
In a subsequent email my mate reported...
"I have sensed some spiritual opposition, so more prayers are desperately needed. The official Olympic chaplains have been told that they are not allowed to hand out any materials including the Jesus DVDs, and it has been harder to get the DVD's into the hands of the athletes."
Nevertheless...
"I did see two guys from another ministry in Brasil hand the regular Jesus DVDs to three athletes from another South American (communist) country, so that was a real boon!!"
I will be in prayer for each of these "recipients" as he has requested.
