Nice to have someone on the inside to get the news that the "News" doesn't cover...
Here are some specific prayer points from Athens regarding distribution of the Olympics/Jesus DVD...
- For the Queen of a small European country who was supposed to receive a DVD from some Olympic Volunteers that attended a country reception last night.
- For Karen Zando, one of our official Olympic Chaplains who ministers inside the Olympic Village. She will be attending a Bible Study with the Swim
coaches from a island nation, and has had an opportunity to share the love of Christ with one athlete who admitted to being an alcoholic to her.
- For a strong Christian woman on a major Western countries Archery team. She has been told by her coach that part of her training regimen every day must include a discipleship appointment with her spiritual pastor every day. That "spiritual pastor" is one of our AIA chaplains in the Village.
I'm also praying for the Australian Christian competitors that I know of in team sports...volleyball and basketball. So far, the players have been doing very well personally but their teams have not been winning. My prayer is that they will learn precisely what God wants them to learn through this experience and that they will be there primarily for "mission...not medals".
