Early Days in Athens Olympics

Watched my mate David Beard with the Australian Men's Volleyball Team in their game against Brazil late last night (Sydney time). I am so proud of Dave. He and his wife Julie walk close to the Lord and he sees his second Olympics as "mission" as much as "medals". He has asked me for prayer for opportunities for him to be open with others about his faith...and for a positive response to the Good News message from one of his best mates on the Aussie Team.

With all the Olympics hype...and the "glorification of humanism" touted about in the Opening Ceremony it might be wise to reflect on this words...

-----------------------------------------------------------------
"God can achieve his purpose either through the absence
of human power and resources, or the abandonment of
reliance on them. All through history God has chosen and
used nobodies, because their unusual dependence on him
made possible the unique display of his power and grace.
He chose and used somebodies only when they renounced
dependence on their natural abilities and resources".

I taped the Boomers first game against Greece which was telecast at 5:15 this AM but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I am praying for Jason Smith and CJ Bruton with the Boomers... that they will play well, be preserved from injury, thoroughly enjoy themselves, and allow God to use them to accomplish His purposes while they are in Athens.
